July 2020 – For a second consecutive year, the iconic Turtle Island continues to make Fiji proud by being crowned the No.1 Resort in the South Pacific and ranked a Top 100 Hotels in the World by Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards.

Now in its 25th year, Travel + Leisure collected the results of hundreds of thousands of people that took part in the annual World’s Best Awards survey which was conducted before

the pandemic. The results released on 9th July revealed the greatest islands, cities, hotels, airports, and more as voted by some of the most passionate and selective travellers worldwide.

Turtle Island Resort, founded in 1980 by entrepreneur and eco-visionary Richard Evanson, is the sole Fijian property featured this year and the highest rated in the South Pacific, Australia and New Zealand with an outstanding ranking of 95.81.

Richard Evanson Jr., Managing Director and son of Turtle Island’s founder said, “We’re truly honoured to be named the No.1 Resort in the South Pacific two years running and for the continued love and support of our guests. This year marks Turtle Island’s 40th anniversary and this award reaffirms our long-standing commitment to delivering a personalised and transformative guest experience. This praise couldn’t have come at a better time for our hardworking and passionate team who I’m exceptionally proud of.”

Renowned as Fiji’s leading sustainable private island, Turtle Island Resort received excellent rankings on service, location, facilities, quality, dining, and overall value. Travel + Leisure said, “With only 14 villas — and, thus, a maximum of 28 guests across its 500 acres — this family-owned property reigned supreme among secluded tropical paradises. “There is no other place that can compare to this,” one reader attested. “The Island family takes you in and takes complete care of you, allowing for relaxation, rejuvenation, and renewal. The best resort we have ever been to,” a T+L reader proclaimed.”
