First time to Fiji will not be the last. Arrived at Turtle Island being greeted by smiling singing faces. Excellent food served right away upon arrival. Then shown to our beautiful Bure. Our fantastic butler Tommy made sure our stay was wonderful. All of the staff or should I say family were wonderful. They all had a true love of the Island and each other as well as all of the visitors. We could not have been happier with everything on the Island.
Just returned from our second visit to Turtle Island. We didn't think it possible but the second time was even more enjoyable then the first!! This is truly a place that is an experience not just a vacation. You are made to feel at "home" on the island by the staff as well as the other guests. The interactions of the staff and guests complete a feeling of family and friends are made that can last long after leaving this pacific paradise.
To try and describe the Turtle Island experience is impossible... It is truly unlike any other resort you will find yourself. The feeling you get from the getting to know the staff and other couples as true friends just does not happen elsewhere. You feel as if you are all stranded on eden together.

If you are looking for a place that is unlike any other - then you need to go to Turtle Island. The island itself is breathtakingly beautiful but the staff is what really makes it!!! They are the most affectionate and loving people that you will ever meet in your life. They get you to appreciate the simple things in life. The laughter is never ending and there is no way that you cannot enjoy yourself. If you want privacy you can have that but most likely you can't wait to get back to the rest of the guests and your turtle family. The communal dining is what makes it. I know the first time we went there my husband was dreading the communal dining and the end of this trip he said that is what makes it so special and unlike any other.
I have been lucky enough in my life to travel through Europe, the Caribbean, Hawaii - a multitude of times, Alaska & a lot of other stops in between. But coming to Turtle Island tops them all! I watched all the videos & read all the reviews, but none of it prepared me for the experience I was about to have. The moment your toes touch the sand, the drink is placed in your hand, the people sing their welcome & finish with "Bula, welcome home", it hits you. This is Paradise!
Sure, you go to Turtle Island because you want spectacular beauty -- the kind you only see in "paradise" movies. And you get it in spades: teal sea, black rocks, white sand, fluttering palms. It's so stunning I couldn't even bring myself to take my eyes off it and read my book. But it's what you DIDN'T expect -- what you never even knew you wanted -- that brings tears to your eyes when you leave the place. It's the people.
It is so hard to do justice to this idyllic paradise with words! It is better to do yourself a favor of a lifetime and figure out how to go there with someone you love. This is truly a nirvana like experience that combines best in class location, people and service and the one thing you will never expect is how you arrive as a visitor and leave as a Family member.
We have just finished our 3rd visit to Turtle Island with our 3 x children and we also took the time to renew our vows for our 10th Wedding anniversary - and even though we have been here before and generally know what to expect we were simply blown away with the experience - best family holiday ever by an immense distance.
We just spent our honeymoon at Turtle Island, and I have to say, I would recommend the entire experience to anyone who wanted to go - including the seaplane! It is a wonderful place, and the staff makes sure to take care of you and ensure you are comfortable and happy. There are many things to do (if you choose to do so) from deep sea fishing to snorkeling to just hanging out and relaxing in the sunshine.
The food and wine were spectacular, and if you have a special request, they will endeavor to fulfill it. Having a private beach, all to yourself, was an amazing experience, and these beaches are large! It was wonderful to leave our cellphones and computers in the bure (house) and not worry about anything other than enjoying everything that Turtle Island has to offer. Mostly, it was the peace and quiet.
We just returned from our honeymoon trip on turtle island. It´s easy to decribe: "The most wonderful island on this planet!!
Now, to those of you reading this that are considering a romantic getaway... please allow me to paint you a picture. Private beach... not a soul anywhere around. Fresh lobster and champagne picnic. Soft sand... and the woman (or man) of your dreams laying beside you on the beach... well, I'm sure you know what happens after this. Trust me when I say that this experience was one of the highlights of our trip!
Welcome home. The staff was amazing. Our bure was gorgeous. The food was fantastic. The diving was incredible. The massages unbeatable. We could go on an on about it, and have, and continue to do so. We've spoken to family and friends who are all in when we go back. They too want to experience what we did. Turtle is a magical place.
There is a reason I have been to this resort 9 times in 19 years - because it is like no other place on earth. It is a unique & special resort with an approach like no other resort. You will find resorts that have tried to copy Turtle Island, but none compares. My husband & I wanted to go for our honeymoon, but due to our schedules, we weren't able to - but the information on Turtle had stayed with us so we went for our first anniversary. We loved it so much we returned again and again - as a couple 3 times and with our kids on 6 different trips. What makes this resort so special is a number of things - first it is the approach of the owner, Richard Evanson - before it was "in" to be green, he was. He re-forested the island and all of the furniture in the gorgeous huts or "bures" is made by local craftsmen from the wood grown on the island. His approach to his resort is that almost everything is grown on the island or caught in the waters - all the food is fresh and often the vegetables and herbs are brought to the table at breakfast on their way from the garden so you can see how fresh they are. The cuisine is exquisite, but not stuffy or overly fancy - fresh and flavorful and a treat to the palate. The staff will bend over backwards to accommodate food allergies or preferences. The Fijian staff is so kind and wonderful - they are the gem that really makes this resort so special - they treat you like family and really care for you and make sure that you are enjoying your stay. The Fijian culture is amazing and it is this opportunity to be a part of the culture and their relaxed and sincere kindness that make it such a pleasure to be on this island.
