We raised $10,000 for our neighbours this Christmas...
With the holiday season quickly approaching, we wanted to take the time to give back to the local Fijian villages where the majority of our beautiful island staff come from. Each year, Turtle Island donates essential supplies to the seven villages and one settlement in our local community on Christmas Day.
This year our goal was to raise a minimum of $10,000 worth of essential - and we did it with your help!
Here is how it worked - Our visitors were requested to simply click one of the social share buttons at the top of this page (you could share it as many times as you like) and each time someone shared this page, the Turtle Island Family donated $5 to the villages that make up our Tikina (Fijian for community)!
Discover Last Years Christmas Village Donation
Last year we had literally thousands of shares and as a result, Turtle Island donated over $10,000 worth of supplies which included everything that an island community would need to thrive. From flour and cooking supplies to fuel and tools for maintaining their homes and equipment, the holiday season is truly a time for giving and we look forward to giving back to our family, friends and neighbours this year.
We've stayed strongly committed to the community in which we live since we began operating as a resort 35 years ago creating hundreds of jobs and providing extensive medical and dental care for the local Yasawan community. The amount of medical work performed on Turtle Island resulted in the government posting a permanent doctor in the area to service the 4,000 people in our Tikina (Fijian for community).
Turtle Island also supports three primary schools as well as the ongoing scholarship program initiated with 50 students each year being financially supported in high schools on the mainland. Turtle Island is blessed with five acres of fertile gardens that produce enough excess to share with our neighbours. We also partner with local fishermen whom we purchase the majority of our seafood and fish from.
Donating essential supplies to our neighbours every Christmas is another way we can stay connected and we hope you'll assist us with 'sharing' the Fiji holiday spirit this year. Happy Holidays!
