Luxury Fiji Resorts

At Turtle Island, we are honored by letters from our former guests telling us of the joy they experienced while in our care. We are equally honored by the positive reviews from prestigious travel magazines. But we are perhaps most moved by the multiple ecological awards we have received.

Turtle Island is unusual in this way. Most owners of luxury resorts would build another "wing" as they grow in popularity and renown. Not Turtle Island's owner, Richard Evanson. He believes in maintaining Turtle Island's pristine natural beauty. He's not going to build 500 new rooms. He's just going to make the 14 he's got as beautiful as possible. Because we know that when sophisticated world travelers come to Turtle Island, they are looking for an authentic Fijian experience, not something they could find emulated in some generic South Seas commercial hotel.

As described in the October 2005 Condé Nast Traveller, "Turtle is one of the Yasawa Islands, 20 volcanic mounds scattered in a 90km eyebrow shape above Fiji's main island, Viti Levu. Some Yasawa Islands are small and hilly, others violently jagged and tall, the rest, tiny green specks; every one is impossibly lush and jungle–covered, ringed by pure white sand, idyllic coral filled lagoons and the deep blue waters of the Pacific Ocean." Now why would we mess with perfection like that?

Committed to the principles of responsible tourism, Turtle Island offers a unique experience compared to her sister luxury resorts in Fiji. On the 500 acre island, there are only 14 accommodations, and a maximum guest number of 28. Meanwhile, a staff of 100 local Fijians work every day to make every minute of every guest's experience a friendly, satisfying and deeply rewarding one.

Turtle Island is a finalist for the 2006 "Tourism for Tomorrow" award, sponsored by the World Travel and Tourism Council. We also received the highly prestigious Green Globe Certification for operating at the highest levels of economic, social and ecological responsibility. In 2004, we were a finalist for the National Geographic/Conservation International World Legacy award. If you're looking to experience real Fijian hospitality at a five-star level of luxury, we invite you to join us on our little piece of paradise here at Turtle Island.
